OWNERS LILY AND SIMON MATTHEWS TOOK OVER PEE WEE’S IN MARCH 2002. WITH A STRONG BACKGROUND IN HOSPITALITY THEIR VISION FOR PEE WEE’S IS TO PROVIDE THE BEST FOOD AND SERVICE IN A WORLD CLASS LOCATION. TWENTY TWO YEARS LATER PEE WEE’S HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF AS AN ICONIC DINING EXPERIENCE IN NORTHERN AUSTRALIA.
Originally the restaurant was built on a site called Pee Wee’s Camp which was established in 1911 when East Point was developed to protect Port Darwin against naval attacks. With nearly four acres of absolute waterfrontage in the natural ambiance of East Point Reserve and showcases an imaginative design that reflects the beauty and informality of Darwin. The materials chosen in the construction tie in with the natural surroundings and historic elements of the site. The site has been recognised as having significant heritage value and has been listed on the National Estate of the NT Heritage registers.
